Two people have been taken to hospital with smoke inhalation after a fire in a house in Codsall.

The blaze started at around 10.00pm in the semi-detached property in Pendeford Mill Lane.

An incident support officer and an ambulance were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found firefighters tackling a significant blaze which has caused very considerable damage to the property.

“Fortunately, the two people inside had been able to get out of the property.  The people in the other half of the property were also out.

“The two occupants of the affected house were taken to New Cross Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

“A woman in her 70s was not affected too seriously, but a man in his 40s was more serious.

“Those from the other half of the property were not affected.”
